The province of Quebec is within an hours drive from my home. The Pontiac, as it is called, is a 50/50 French-English region. It is very rural with few small towns and villages along the mighty Ottawa River. Years past the region was booming with logging business. There isn't much going on these days in terms of industry. Tourism and the odd small farm are about it.
At Pembroke, we crossed several interprovincial bridges. We drove across the island and crossed yet another bridge over the Ottawa. On the mainland we took a left on Sheenboro road. Why?
A week or two back we heard about this landform.
It is called Brennans Bluff.This area is surrounded by gigantic hills called the Laurentian Hills. It's actualy an ancient mountain range that I've heard was taller than Everest!
The area is beautiful, the weather was perfect and we had gummy candy to snack on. What more could two senior folks ask for to while away Labour Day weekend?
I guess you didn’t have to contend wth too much traffic on that labour weekend day trip.
ReplyDeleteWe saw a grand total of THREE vehicles on the move across the river. That township rolls up the rugs on Sundays so very quiet. All of the Quebec residents were over in Pembroke helping to pack the WalMart parking lot to the gills.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful area of western Quebec. Logged right out years and years ago but regrowing with protections in place. No spraying allowed there. They let nature chart her own course.
