Aftermath

It got very windy in the night. We lost power around midnight. It popped back on at 6:39 AM.

Our friend had a tree or large branch come down behind his house, taking the power lines with it. A transformer caught fire near us! There were lots of outages around the county.

The sun was shining early afternoon so I took a run into the town. I had the back seat full of clothing to donate and had to pop into the grocery store for a couple of things. I discussed the pros and cons of certain flower pots with a woman in the dollar store, then talked about the wind with another lady in the grocery store. I needed to get out and about!

When I got home I called my sweet Sis in Peterborough and talked her through a computer issue.

We might get a good dump of snow through the weekend, then another warm up. My grandson was sent home from work early to rest up. He's on snowplow duty this weekend. It sounds like the novelty of that part of his job has worn off, haha.

Spring is a little more than a week away. The sunshine is heating up quite a bit. I planted my first tomato seeds in a sunny south window with the addition of lights.

  1. Glad to hear you weathered it OK! We have hard, white snow/ice everywhere, and the boot cleats are a necessity.
We walked easily, anywhere in the bush yesterday, with our cleated boots, as the surface is so hard.

  2. Snow at this time of year is like, “Go ahead and get it over with.”

  3. My daughter's course in Toronto was let out early so they could travel before the Big Snow hit. As it is now after 4:00 pm and not a flake has graced us, I am thinking Environment Canada has done it again. If I said "cried wolf" would you be with me? We still have a thin layer of ice on the trees, but nothing of significance from the last big warning.

  4. I think you sent your wind down to Michigan!

  5. You sound very upbeat today! The reality that spring is around the next corner must have something to do with that!
