Talking to idiots because I'm my mothers daughter

This afternoon I had quite a long chat with one of my paternal "shirt tail" cousins. (We already knew each other but discovered we were related through our fathers shared lineage)

He was bathering on about undisiplined kids that are around him at his work, and, excuse my bluntness here, trannies and fags.

I  am not going to work myself into a froth trying to sort out these idiots.

My mother loved (almost) everybody. She didn't care if you were queer, straight, humpback, cross eyed with three legs and a tail, black, white or had green hair. Her attitude was you be nice to me and I'll be nice to you. The bikers loved her and called her Ma. If you needed her, she would help you. This is the woman who instilled the love for all humans in me. She did have a few silly prejudices but I laughed at those behind her back.

Anyway, this cousin was rambling on and I'm not saying a thing. He eventually says " You don't agree with a thing I said, do you? " Nope was my response. Well he was off on a ramble again.

I guess I could have hung up on him, but I didn't. I just got to know my cousin a little better. My mother had a saying about idiots like this, " Give the guy a rope". Sheesh

I'm cleaning up my blog a bit. Every once in awhile I archive some posts

  2. Thankfully, I have no one I can relate your cousin to but I find just plain negativity about anything in general, constant chatterers and interupters (not giving anyone else a chance) are the ones I want to hang up on (in my case, walk away from). I don't do long conversations except with those whom I love dearly. I would have hung up!

    1. I just HAD to hear what he had to say. We've never had kind of ( one sided) conversation before.

  3. Great title for the post.
You are a better soul than I! Afraid I have very little patience for B******* especially when it comes from relatives. Working oneself into a 'froth' only harms oneself.....

    1. My relatives are on both sides of the line but this guy just blew me away! I'm glad I took the time to get to know him better now.

  4. I was one of a few Instructors assigned to teach Workplace Human Rights Laws to the old boys club in the Local. My partner and I came toe to toe with many of them. Unfortunately, those Laws do not apply at home or on the streets. Just letting him know you don't share his views, is a step in the right direction.
Stay Safe and Enjoy sticking up for humanity.

    It's about time.
