We had another bitter cold night. I woke up at 4AM and checked the temperature. It was -28.7! Our furnace started sputtering again! M. had a call into our heating contractor first thing. That fellow put in a call to our propane supplier. Not sure where we go from here.
By noon it had warmed up nicely in the sunshine. I went outdoors and did some chores. The birds and squirrels were happy to see me. I'm longing to hear the whip poor wills come whistling down the back path. I'm longing to hear the peepers in the pond. Hey, I hope the bears and moose wander through again soon!
The temperature is going to continue to rise all week. Our lane is going to turn into a sea of slush. It will be hard to get through it.
We went for a nice walk this afternoon. It was all uphill in one direction that had us puffing, haha. My foot is improving by wearing the Birkenstocks all day indoors. I ordered a new pair in a style called "Boston clog". They arrived today. I'll wear them outdoors when things dry up.
On Wednesday Dear Daughter and I are going for coffee then I have to get a chest XRay before seeing the respirologist. My asthma has gotten quite problematic since the pneumonia last spring.
I started knitting a wee sweater for my youngest Grandie in a pattern called Flax. I found it to be a bit of a challenge getting started. I have a mild learning disability around reading numbers. There are a LOT of numbers in this pattern that was really confusing me. I sat quietly writing the pattern out with words, redacting the parts that didn't apply. I've got it now! Which reminds me, I need to post some photos of some completed knitting projects.
Hopefully, the snow pile out front will diminish quite a bit in the near future, providing we don’t get another significant snowfall.
ReplyDeleteMy sister pointed out that a lot of the storm drains are buried. If we get a rapid thaw that's going to be problematic.
DeleteExcellent idea about writing out the pattern to make it easier on oneself. I do that also. Why not? There are no 'knitting police'!!
ReplyDeleteThe strong sunlight has been amazing lately. It feels so good. We will be in 'mud season' soon, and the first early migrants will be here in weeks.
Winter is not a good time to have furnace problems. Hope you get it resolved.
ReplyDeleteSlushy is good if it means warmer temps!
ReplyDeleteWe have had SO MUCH snow this winter. The slush on the lane will be DEEP
