Long Weekend Blues

On the Monday before May 25, we in Canada celebrate Victoria Day in honor of the old queen. When are we going to honor the recent Queen? Enough said about that.

This is the "first official long weekend of the summer season" for us up north. The weather is certainly blessing us this year.

The long weekends are often fraught with accidents and tragedy as the city folks get out and "giver" as we say around here. There was a terrible boating accident near Perth Ontario last night. A speed boat hit a smaller fishing boat. Three people were killed and five are injured. Three moose were killed on Hwy 60 in Algonquin Park in the wee hours. Another moose was killed just west of The Park.

When are people going to slow down?

On a lighter note, my sweetie made me a bang up birthday breakfast. Isn't it beautiful?

  1. There has been a ton of traffic going through CP, but I imagine that today is lighter. It was almost non-existent in the wee hours this morning, but Sunday mornings are like that.

  2. Isn't it awful out there. I worked Victim Services in Muskoka. It was awful during summer weekends.
I cannot believe the speeds people drive. And drunk, in the dark.

  3. You can't fix Stupid. If anyone survived, they would always blame the other person.
Be Safe and Enjoy your belated Birthday wish.

    It's about time.

  4. We were indeed blessed this holiday weekend with weather!
It doesn't happen too often. We only had rain overnight Tuesday morning.

  5. Everyone seems so into themselves they forget to look out for others -- especially if they are in control of any kind of power vehicle.

  6. Yes it is. And as for the traffic and accidents, every year there are some. Tragic, but no matter the warnings and exhortions, people will push. And party. The boat thing is just awful.
