Enough already

We are sure getting more than our fair share of rain. The township is posting sandbag sites for anyone in need.

Our region had a minor earthquake just after noon today. We thought it was the propane truck, but a look outside nixed that thought. We frequently get low level buzz by big military helicopters but it wasn't that either. I should have noticed that the cat was reacting. The dog doesn't react to anything but food and company so she stayed in bed.

I had a great long chat with my sister in law this morning. I am hoping we can rebuild our relationship. We are planning to work on a genealogy project together.

This afternoon we drove through torrential rain to our vet in Renfrew. We picked up insulin for the cat. We toddled home via back roads. The insane drivers and heavy trucks on the Trans Canada were just to much in this weather. It slowed to a heavy drizzle on the return drive. By the time we hit home the sun was playing hide and seek.

My pain levels were way down today. The Aleve I took this morning coupled with the new orthotics in my Crocs really told the planter faciitis to get lost!

  2. We heard and felt the quake. I was sure a big truck was coming in the drive, got up from my sewing machine and looked out the windows...then the sound disappeared. I also felt sort of a muffled feeling in my ears as it started. That is the third small quake I have experienced.
Glad you are feeling better. I didn't know you could get orthotics in crocs??

    1. I got a Scholls orthotic for them. The supports are rigid with a decent padding. You cut to fit for length. I'm impressed with it for the price. My proper orthotics are $$$

  3. Earthquake? Rain and flooding? Wildfires last summer? What in the world is happening?

    1. All part of life here. We live on the confluence of two fault lines, the Gariepy and the Ottawa River, so they are frequent, apparently 100 yearly. Most we don't feel but it's always big local news when we do. The rapid snow melt and all this rain is causing so much flooding! Historically we had many more wild fires. It's all perspective I guess.

  5. At least the rain washes the powder off the streets, so my wheelchair tires come in the house clean!
