snow

It has FINALLY stopped snowing here. We got a good foot of very heavy snow. The neighbour across the road came by with his huge ancient tractor and did the head of the lane. (The plow didn't come by until about noon hour!). He was ready to do the lane, but the ground is very soft under the snow so I thanked him profusely for breaking the bank and said we would wait for the rest to melt.

The furnace guys were here until dinner time yesterday. They did a good job. We are finding the gas heat a bit warmer than we are used to.  (different folks told us we might get used to a cooler house, hahhahaha).  When they were backing their big trailer into the yard they got it STUCK at the head of the lane.

They finally had to unhook the trailer and fiddle with it.
The lane was well packed snow by the time these other vehicles and the propane company were in and out a few times.

So winter has dumped on us with a giggle. Thankfully the temperatures are going to be good and warm into next week and it will all be gone again.

    1. It is certainly warmer than we are accustomed. Much quieter than the fan on the old furnace too.

  2. Glad to hear that part is done. Now if the rest would just fall into place....
The plough socked us in with big, wet lumps across the end of the drive, but we are just going to let it all melt rather than chew up the ground with the tractor. 8 inches here this AM, but it settled a good bit over the day yesterday.

    1. Our township plow guy is a real idiot. I can't imagine how many tons of gravel he has scraped into the ditch. Everyone says they wish "Davey" was back on the plough. So yes, we had big lumps as well, mixed with a LOT of gravel. I think we might need to have our culvert dug out this year.

  4. The one thing I have that is good is that none of our roofs caved in this storm and so we did not have to call in the neighbours for shovelling parties as we did one memorable Easter day.
    Ah, spring in the Highlands.
As of this writing, Friday pm, we finally have power and the internet up again. Glad you also made it through, even with the gravel rutted.
